Metro Tasmania Pty Ltd is Tasmania’s largest provider of road passenger transport, with 455 employees statewide, and depots in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.

To enhance their current Services Planning Division, Metro seeks a Services Planning Manager to take responsibility for all aspects of Metro’s passenger transport service planning, including timetables and rosters, planning and design of new passenger transport services, and the assessment of business development initiatives. This position reflects Metro’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and progression in services planning. The position has two direct reports and is responsible to the General Manager Business Development and Planning.

Major Accountabilities:

• Develop and implement Metro’s service planning to meet contract requirements.
• In conjunction with other Metro departments, coordinate passenger transport user and non-user consultation to understand customer needs prior to service planning.
• Gain and apply knowledge of passenger transport user needs.
• Lead passenger transport service development, design and consultation process for identified bus service reviews.
• Identify infrastructure improvements.
• Manage the maintenance, review and development of Metro’s data system.
• Preparation of reports and statistics with respect to Metro’s service planning function.

Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of passenger transport service planning.
• Expert knowledge in the use of Austrics data systems.
• High level interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Sound project management skills.

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline highly desirable.
